Ah, one of my new favorite things for sure are hosting Favorite Things Parties! I just threw my first one ever a few weeks ago inspired by other blogs and of course, Oprah, the queen of introducing new favorite things to folks.

I had been looking for an excuse to bring together some of the best ladies I know here in Los Angeles and I have to say - a Favorite Things Party is a great way to do it.

How does it work? In a nutshell, you invite your buddies to bring several (let's say 4) of one of their "favorite" things in the entire universe (a nail polish, a magazine, etc.) under a certain price (I did under $7) limit. Invite as many people as you'd like. Everyone gets to go home with four new favorite things thanks to a drawing.

Everyone writes down their name four times and you go around, allowing each guest to explain what they brought and then they draw four names aka winners from the bowl for their item.

It's a quick and easy way to get know what people really love and discover some hidden gems. Here's a gander at what my ladies love:

My contribution was one of my all-time favorite books, Steal Like An Artist.

We also had:

  • Josie Maran Argan Oil
  • Vintage Comic Books
  • St Ives Green Tea Scrub
  • Lip Balm
  • Trader Joe's 70% Dark Chocolate Bar with Toffee and Walnuts
  • Dolcette Italian Cookies
  • Body Shop Body Butter
  • Victoria Secret Perfume Spray
  • Reusable bags that fit inside your purse or bag
  • West elm bowls filled with favorite candy

To tote their goodies home, I provided these white gable boxes which you may remember from our Cookie Exchange Housewarming. I have like 100 so always looking for crafty ways to use them up. If you want to create tags of your own, be sure to download the free printable linked at the bottom of the post. The names are written in the free Mathlete font if you'd like to re-create them.

And what would a Favorite Things Party be without favorite food and drink? I took this as an opportunity to create a new Sangria recipe (Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade Sangria), whip up some ultimate sugar cookies, and even invent some strawberry bruschetta. Stay tuned next week for a closer look and recipe for that little delicious bowl of heaven.

I also served a favorite find from Trader Joe's - Dark Chocolate Sea Salt almonds. Try them, they are massively great and addicting.
